A little history
What began as Third Time Ice Cream (now Third Time Together) arose from a spark: experiencing small bites of new flavors can leave indelible delight. Third Time started as a pop-up, ice-cream-only stall at Bow Market in Somerville in September 2024. In addition to the inventive flavors, every guest’s review for Third Time mentioned how welcomed they felt, because warmth and hospitality is at the heart of Third Time.
After a brief residency in Cambridge and a pop-up in Boston, we opened our permanent home in Cambridge’s Kendall Square in February 2026.
But what’s the story behind the name Third Time Together?
When two friends meet by chance several times over the course of a day, we might say, “we have to stop meeting like this,” with the implication being that the next meeting should be intentional. Our name embraces this pancultural custom with many variations depending on local hospitality traditions. Some say “next time you have to buy me a beer,” others may say “next time, let’s grab coffee,” or “third time, ice cream.”
We hope that when you run into your friends, you’ll teach them this custom (it is a great opportunity to demand they buy you a drink, meal, or ice cream) and that you’ll remember to share a special treat with your friends at your next unexpected meeting.
